As I am writing this, we are getting some more snow on top of the 18 inches already on the ground, the great blizzard of 2011, don't you know. In Grove, Oklahoma this much snow is very unusual but then we are generally unusual. Some love it and some hate it. My friend, Chris, hates it even more now that his mother has had Chris out shoveling the drive. What I hate about it is the COLD! lol The older I get the more I dislike cold weather and add a bunch of snow in the mix and it's worse. But what are you to do? Keep calm and carry on. That's my new motto.

New Photos Have Been Added
I'm writing this bit to say to all who come this way that I added new photos to the bunch showing the art show of Christian work from Vicki and I. Jake Schwartz took the new photos for us and we are thankful for the time he took to do this wonderful act of kindness. Jake is Vicki's son and a student at John Brown University, he is learning, what else, photography. Jake's education is already coming in very handy and he shows great promise. Look for his name in the future, I bet some great advertising ad photos come from Jake or anything else his heart desires. Thanks Jacob!

Night of Prayer at NewSong Church

January 7th 2011 my church held it's yearly Night of Prayer. Anyone from the Church that has a ministry or missionfield or small group can put together a booth with their information and prayer points and everyone is invited to come pray over the needs that are mentioned. Vicki McCaul (my studio partner and best friend) and myself were invited to bring a body of work that we felt God had moved us to create. So the following blogs are showcasing these pieces that had not been shown together before. This is the beginning of a journey for Vicki and I that God has called us to and it includes teaching, showing and creating Godly art and using that art as a tool to tell others about the love and salvation of Jesus.
Our God is THE CREATOR and we believe that we are made in HIS image and because of that fact we are all creators of some kind. It might be in the field of math, athletics, music, architecture, photography, or like me, collage art, but it doesn't matter what field you are called to or gifted in, do it unto the Lord. Have a Blessed Day and do something good for God today.

This is a ROCK!!! This natural heart shaped rock became art in the hands of Vicki McCaul. She broke it, wired it, glued it, chained it, painted it and put lights behind it. If you can't tell there is a BIG spike in the middle of it. It represents what Jesus has done for Vicki's heart, but it shows what Jesus can do for your heart too.

This guitar was broken at a (very very loud) Christian hard Rock concert that happened here in Grove, Oklahoma. (I was there, can you believe it?)  Some local youth groups boycotted the concert because it didn't fit into a neat so called Christian box, maybe because the teens that came were messy and wild, tattooed, pierced and talked rough, but they were fed in all possible ways including food in their bellys and they were made to feel welcome. Jesus was there at that concert that night. The guitar was given to Vicki to make art with and this is the result.

Tribute to all the martyrs that lost their lives to translate the Bible from Latin into English so that the common man could read it. There are head shapes hanging from the bottom (we call them the talking heads) that have the names of many people who were burned at the stake for the crime of translating the Bible. The top of the piece represents the church and governments that wanted to keep the Bible in Latin to allow them to place themselves above the common people because this afforded them power that they would not have once the people were able to read the Bible for themselves. This is powerful stuff and if you don't know the history of all the people who lost their lives for a book we take for granted then you should do some research of your own. We were astounded, and we just scratched the surface of the history of these martyrs.

This is another piece that just sings when you see it in person. When we asked which art people liked best this one was pointed to the most. It was a big hit with the folks at NewSong that night. You can't tell from these pics but there is a hand inside the chest holding what appears to be a heart but the light is very bright. I wonder why...

I wish these photos didn't show the bump from the easel, but it is what it is. Try to enjoy the art anyway.
It would be wonderful if everyone could see this piece in person. It has a little music box player, that plays a lullaby, and Vicki included the pics of her children and signified the cross of Jesus because He gave us life. Beautiful creation.

Best Christmas art I have ever seen. This one is at the top of my list of favorites. I watched as Vicki carried this silly plastic Christmas cane around for a couple of years, claiming she would make art with it. I was sceptical to say the least. Well, shut my mouth! LOL

This artwork was a total collaboration between Vicki McCaul and myself. It is based on the scripture Proverbs 8 taken from the Message translation of the Bible. This translation is so vivid and we knew when we read it that a piece of artwork must done. And here it is. BTW...the light works in the street light. Clever. I don't think this one is complete yet. So be looking for an update on it... maybe... not sure yet.

This is a collage I completed and shortly after Vicki and I became friends she bought it. Then she thought it needed something added to it and so she added things. She was worried about telling me. I said it belonged to her now and she could do as she pleased with it. I have since used the word "adulterated" when telling this story. Vicki laughed. I'm glad we have a friendship like ours. I don't think I could let anyone else get by with stuff like that. But Vicki can. Stay calm and carry on. ;-{)
P.S. BTW... I have an unadultered version of this art on my phone as a skin. The outside of my red Blackberry has the original artwork on it. COOL BEANS!
