As I am writing this, we are getting some more snow on top of the 18 inches already on the ground, the great blizzard of 2011, don't you know. In Grove, Oklahoma this much snow is very unusual but then we are generally unusual. Some love it and some hate it. My friend, Chris, hates it even more now that his mother has had Chris out shoveling the drive. What I hate about it is the COLD! lol The older I get the more I dislike cold weather and add a bunch of snow in the mix and it's worse. But what are you to do? Keep calm and carry on. That's my new motto.

New Photos Have Been Added
I'm writing this bit to say to all who come this way that I added new photos to the bunch showing the art show of Christian work from Vicki and I. Jake Schwartz took the new photos for us and we are thankful for the time he took to do this wonderful act of kindness. Jake is Vicki's son and a student at John Brown University, he is learning, what else, photography. Jake's education is already coming in very handy and he shows great promise. Look for his name in the future, I bet some great advertising ad photos come from Jake or anything else his heart desires. Thanks Jacob!

Night of Prayer at NewSong Church

January 7th 2011 my church held it's yearly Night of Prayer. Anyone from the Church that has a ministry or missionfield or small group can put together a booth with their information and prayer points and everyone is invited to come pray over the needs that are mentioned. Vicki McCaul (my studio partner and best friend) and myself were invited to bring a body of work that we felt God had moved us to create. So the following blogs are showcasing these pieces that had not been shown together before. This is the beginning of a journey for Vicki and I that God has called us to and it includes teaching, showing and creating Godly art and using that art as a tool to tell others about the love and salvation of Jesus.
Our God is THE CREATOR and we believe that we are made in HIS image and because of that fact we are all creators of some kind. It might be in the field of math, athletics, music, architecture, photography, or like me, collage art, but it doesn't matter what field you are called to or gifted in, do it unto the Lord. Have a Blessed Day and do something good for God today.

This is a ROCK!!! This natural heart shaped rock became art in the hands of Vicki McCaul. She broke it, wired it, glued it, chained it, painted it and put lights behind it. If you can't tell there is a BIG spike in the middle of it. It represents what Jesus has done for Vicki's heart, but it shows what Jesus can do for your heart too.

This guitar was broken at a (very very loud) Christian hard Rock concert that happened here in Grove, Oklahoma. (I was there, can you believe it?) Some local youth groups boycotted the concert because it didn't fit into a neat so called Christian box, maybe because the teens that came were messy and wild, tattooed, pierced and talked rough, but they were fed in all possible ways including food in their bellys and they were made to feel welcome. Jesus was there at that concert that night. The guitar was given to Vicki to make art with and this is the result.

Games People Play by Vicki McCaul

Tribute to all the martyrs that lost their lives to translate the Bible from Latin into English so that the common man could read it. There are head shapes hanging from the bottom (we call them the talking heads) that have the names of many people who were burned at the stake for the crime of translating the Bible. The top of the piece represents the church and governments that wanted to keep the Bible in Latin to allow them to place themselves above the common people because this afforded them power that they would not have once the people were able to read the Bible for themselves. This is powerful stuff and if you don't know the history of all the people who lost their lives for a book we take for granted then you should do some research of your own. We were astounded, and we just scratched the surface of the history of these martyrs.

This is another piece that just sings when you see it in person. When we asked which art people liked best this one was pointed to the most. It was a big hit with the folks at NewSong that night. You can't tell from these pics but there is a hand inside the chest holding what appears to be a heart but the light is very bright. I wonder why...

It would be wonderful if everyone could see this piece in person. It has a little music box player, that plays a lullaby, and Vicki included the pics of her children and signified the cross of Jesus because He gave us life. Beautiful creation.

This artwork was a total collaboration between Vicki McCaul and myself. It is based on the scripture Proverbs 8 taken from the Message translation of the Bible. This translation is so vivid and we knew when we read it that a piece of artwork must done. And here it is. BTW...the light works in the street light. Clever. I don't think this one is complete yet. So be looking for an update on it... maybe... not sure yet.

This is a collage I completed and shortly after Vicki and I became friends she bought it. Then she thought it needed something added to it and so she added things. She was worried about telling me. I said it belonged to her now and she could do as she pleased with it. I have since used the word "adulterated" when telling this story. Vicki laughed. I'm glad we have a friendship like ours. I don't think I could let anyone else get by with stuff like that. But Vicki can. Stay calm and carry on. ;-{)
P.S. BTW... I have an unadultered version of this art on my phone as a skin. The outside of my red Blackberry has the original artwork on it. COOL BEANS!

Two photo carousels that i have altered. Number two was found in a flea market and had a photo plate missing. Each carousel has 10 - 12 single artworks hanging from a center base that turns. These are pieces that you must sit and take time to look at. You could also do some praying and reflecting while you are there.
The nice bright photos were taken by Jacob Schwartz, Vicki's son. Jacob is a student at John Brown University and we are grateful for the time he took to photograph this collection.

Easter was a wonderful day spent with my Husband. We started the day by attending our Church and then returned home. My personal chef, Rob, (my husband) smoked a rack of lamb that our friend Deborah had given us (she raised the lamb). He fixed a pasta salad, steamed zucs, deviled eggs and some flat bread. I, of course, had mint jelly with my lamb. It was absolutley delicious. We spent the rest of Easter together which is rare. It was a very good day. Thank you God for my Husband and my home. I am very blessed because God loves me.

The Choice

He placed one scoop of clay upon another until a form lay lifeless on the ground.
All of the Garden's inhabitants paused to witness the event. Hawks hovered. Giraffes stretched. Trees bowed. Butterflies paused on petals and watched.
"You will love me, nature," God said. "I made you that way. You will obey me, universe. For you were designed to do so. You will reflect my glory, skies, for that is how you were created. But this one will be like me. This one will be able to choose."
All were silent as the Creator reached into himself and removed something yet unseen. A seed. "It's called 'choice.' The seed of choice."
Creation stood in silence and gazed upon the lifeless form.
An angel spoke, "But what if he ... "
"What if he chooses not to love?" the Creator finished. "Come, I will show you."
Unbound by today, God and the angel walked into the realm of tomorrow.
"There, see the fruit of the seed of choice, both the sweet and the bitter."
The angel gasped at what he saw. Spontaneous love. Voluntary devotion. Chosen tenderness. Never had he seen anything like these. He felt the love of the Adams. He heard the joy of Eve and her daughters. He saw the food and the burdens shared. He absorbed the kindness and marveled at the warmth.
"Heaven has never seen such beauty, my Lord. Truly, this is your greatest creation."
"Ah, but you've only seen the sweet. Now witness the bitter."
A stench enveloped the pair. The angel turned in horror and proclaimed, "What is it?"
The Creator spoke only one word: "Selfishness."
The angel stood speechless as they passed through centuries of repugnance. Never had he seen such filth. Rotten hearts. Ruptured promises. Forgotten loyalties. Children of the creation wandering blindly in lonely labyrinths.
"This is the result of choice?" the angel asked.
"Yes."
"They will forget you?"
"Yes."
"They will reject you?"
"Yes."
"They will never come back?"
"Some will. Most won't."
"What will it take to make them listen?"
The Creator walked on in time, further and further into the future, until he stood by a tree. A tree that would be fashioned into a cradle. Even then he could smell the hay that would surround him.
With another step into the future, he paused before another tree. It stood alone, a stubborn ruler of a bald hill. The trunk was thick, and the wood was strong. Soon it would be cut. Soon it would be trimmed. Soon it would be mounted on the stony brow of another hill. And soon he would be hung on it.
He felt the wood rub against a back he did not yet wear.
"Will you go down there?" the angel asked.
"I will."
"Is there no other way?"
"There is not."
"Wouldn't it be easier to not plant the seed? Wouldn't it be easier to not give the choice?"
"It would," the Creator spoke slowly. "But to remove the choice is to remove the love."
He looked around the hill and foresaw a scene. Three figures hung on three crosses. Arms spread. Heads fallen forward. They moaned with the wind.
Men clad in soldiers' garb sat on the ground near the trio. They played games in the dirt and laughed.
Men clad in religion stood off to one side. They smiled. Arrogant, cocky. They had protected God, they thought, by killing this false one.
Women clad in sorrow huddled at the foot of the hill. Speechless. Faces tear streaked. Eyes downward. One put her arm around another and tried to lead her away. She wouldn't leave. "I will stay," she said softly. "I will stay."
All heaven stood to fight. All nature rose to rescue. All eternity poised to protect. But the Creator gave no command.
"It must be done ... ," he said, and withdrew.
But as he stepped back in time, he heard the cry that he would someday scream: "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Mark 15:34) He wrenched at tomorrow's agony.
The angel spoke again. "It would be less painful ... "
The Creator interrupted softly. "But it wouldn't be love."
They stepped into the Garden again. The Maker looked earnestly at the clay creation. A monsoon of love swelled up within him. He had died for the creation before he had made him. God's form bent over the sculptured face and breathed. Dust stirred on the lips of the new one. The chest rose, cracking the red mud. The cheeks fleshened. A finger moved. And an eye opened.
But more incredible than the moving of the flesh was the stirring of the spirit. Those who could see the unseen gasped.
Perhaps it was the wind who said it first. Perhaps what the star saw that moment is what has made it blink ever since. Maybe it was left to an angel to whisper it:
"It looks like ... it appears so much like ... it is him!"
The angel wasn't speaking of the face, the features, or the body. He was looking inside—at the soul.
"It's eternal!" gasped another.
Within the man, God had placed a divine seed. A seed of his self. The God of might had created earth's mightiest. The Creator had created, not a creature, but another creator. And the One who had chosen to love had created one who could love in return.
Now it's our choice.

I pray that this year 2010 is a better year than the last. My husband and I were very glad to be rid of 2009. So on that note I am glad that I am still here to write on my blog occasionally. I am not a committed blogger but I like having one. lol I am not very committed to anything other than my God and my marriage and friendships. Other than that I'm pretty wishy washy. I do love collecting stuff to do art with, that is one of my luxuries...time to mess about with stuff. lol Maybe in this new year I will become a bit more committed to this blog....then again maybe not. Flickr is another place I like a lot and spend quite a bit of time there. Again, I love to gather images to use in art, more stuff for my art. Now if I would just commit to doing the art it would be a very good thing. Since we have moved the studio into my house for an interim, I am not doing as much art as I was doing. I don't go into the studio unless Vicki is here. I don't know why but I always have something else to do in the rest of the house. I miss having the studio in a seperate place where I had to go to the building. I could just walk away from my house and go somewhere else and forget about everything at my home. Now my home is aways there....calling and whispering....don't go play....stay here and do laundry, clean the bathroom, put dishes away, let the cats and dogs in and out (I am the doorwoman) and then look at your e-mail and get on Flickr. It is like an anchor or a ball and chain around my leg. Not that I don't love my home and all that it has to offer.....but I need to be able to leave it behind and "GO" do art somewhere....Oh how I need to do that. I do pray that this changes soon. I need a space to create in...

Charles Harper Artwork & New Art Tools

I love Charles Harper's art. This is a sampler from a book cover I believe. But I may be wrong. I love it, no matter where it came from. Makes me happy!

Vicki, my studio partner, and I have been collecting some new art tools. The first one we bought was a Cricut. Not the big Expressions, but the Original Cricut. I have played with it some. I think it will be a nice addition to our papercrafting and classes. The other new item we purchased was the Big Shot Die Machine. OK...now this is one we can really see ourselves using. Vicki and I already have plans for this art machine. We have seen a product, it is sheets of glue that we can run through the die machine, and the company has sister products that are metal sheets, copper, aluminum, and stainless steel, these also can be run through the die machine. The Big Shot embosses as well as cuts so the possibilities are endless and the products that can be put through the Big Shot are many. I am in creation heaven. BTW...we purchased the Big Shot through Stampin' Up because Vicki is a demonstrator for the company. Have a great day and try some of these great tools that are out there for the paper crafter and other artists too.

This summer has flown by! I love Fall, but I can't believe it is here already. I have been doing some art, collage and one altered book, but no pictures to show yet. I will get there. We have been dealing with health issues all summer and are still at it as I write this. Nothing serious, just time consuming. Vicki and I have been at every Second Saturday in downtown Grove, Oklahoma, this summer, the last one is this month and I am giving away brats. I have been doing hot dogs but seeing how this is October I thought brats were in order. So if you are going to be at Grove's Second Saturday look for Vicki the face painter and me, the Brats vendor. They are free!

Summer, 2009 has brought changes!

My life has been very busy since I last blogged. My daughter, Tanya, 6 month old (now 7 months) granddaughter, Shae Victoria, and her daddy, Scott, came to visit from Victoria, BC, Canada. I had not seen my daughter in a very long time and it was my first meeting with Shae and Scott. So it was a very exciting time. And I had a little trouble keeping up with a family that has a baby. It has been a while for that also. But, I wouldn't trade those memories for anything. Shae is the most beautiful baby girl, of course I am not biased.
Also, I now have two great grand baby girls, Alivia, whose mother is my gorgeous granddaughter, Megan, and Bailey, whose mother is my other gorgeous granddaughter, Heather. I have not been able to meet Alivia and Bailey yet, hopefully soon. They are also the most beautiful baby girls, according to the pictures I have seen. We are just a family of beautiful children because my grandsons, Tristan and Dirk, whose father is my wonderful and handsome son, Rick, are very very handsome. Okay, that's enough bragging.

After the visit with my family, Vicki, my studio partner, and I, moved our studio to my house. I have a great room that we took over from my husband (I think he is in shock) but anyway, that means that people are coming to my home on a very regular basis because Vicki teaches children's art classes. I think my greatest problem with this is that my dogs and cats are shedding. I mean really shedding! I think two of my dogs are coming apart. I need to get the glue bottle out and glue them back together. I fear that I will go looking for the dogs and all I will find is a large pile of hair. I have dreams about people trying to come into my home and having to fight their way through piles and piles of hair. We might lose one of the kids in a hair ball. Scary!

But, aside from the fear of the hair thing, I have enjoyed being at home. Now, this is not a permanent thing. We plan on moving into a building in downtown Grove in the future, but we must find the right place. We left the Brush and Palette Club and Gallery because the space was getting too small....or we were getting too big, we are not sure which it was...but we outgrew the space and desperately needed more breathing room...so here we are, in my house. I think it is my friend, Joan's, fault, she was the first to mention moving the studio to my house.
Vicki and I have a vision for an art space called "Creation Station". This will be a space for all ages and different ways of achieving success at art through classes and workshops. We also would like to offer art therapy and jumping off workshops for adults who need the basics of beginning art. There will also be a "Running A Muck" area for children who need to let of some energy. Oh, and I almost forgot, our private studios will be there, Vicki and I will still be doing our own art. So, there is our passion. Art available for anyone and everyone who wants to do art. We love it!

So, don't go looking for me at the Brush and Palette Club, because I won't be there. But you can come see me at my house...that is if you can fight thorough the piles of hair. If you find a dog in the pile, will you let me know, I think I am missing one. Thanks!

I now have my own Facebook, thanks to all my friends who encouraged me to try and join the rest of the people...which BTW I don't always like to do, but in this instance it was a good move. The Pelicans are Coming!

It is time for the Pelicans to arrive at Grand Lake and it is also time for Grove to hold the annual Pelican Festival. The Brush and Palette Club and Gallery held a contest for pelican art. This is my entry in that contest. The winners of the contest will be shown at the Pelican Festival in the booth of the Brush and Palette Club. There are a lot of great entries in the contest so I don't know what my chances of getting a ribbon are, but it would be nice to be shown off at the festival where all the visitors to Grand Lake will get to see it. That would be cool. The pelicans that come to Grand Lake are the white variety, so in my mixed media collage I included two brown pelicans that are standing on the dock. The title of the piece is "Brown is not "in" this year". The price of this Mixed Media art work is $245.00 plus S/H. The frame is dark wood.

Barbie on the Babary Coast

Notice the umbrella with glass fish bead on top. Barbie is sporting a handmade paper sundress with a Don Loper tag. Her pet parrot is close by and she is enjoying a long tall drink. Her sandals and beach umbrella are also handmade using patterned paper from Angel Company The beach chair is made from grape vine and is vintage 1980.
Barbie on the Barbary Coast won a 2nd place ribbon in an art show and I was proud as I could be.

My Art Club held an art contest with the theme of "As cold as a long tall drink". I'd wanted to do an assemblage art piece for a long time because I have a friend, Sandy Branjord, that is a wonderful assemblage artist and I am always inspired by her artwork. So, I threw caution to the wind when my other friend, Vicki McCaul, found this very old Barbie at a flea market and brought it to me. I had so much fun creating this, and it brought back childhood memories of playing with my Barbies. Her beach is sandpaper that is strewn with shells, beach rocks, glitter and micro beads to represent water. Her tag that is hanging on the side says "they say ice water pumps through her veins, that is, supposing she has a heart." Ahh...cold as a long tall drink!

I will always remember the days I got to play again. I am so blessed to be able to play at my age. I wish more people would take the plunge. Anyway, I present "Barbie on the Barbary Coast".

I found this beautiful photo on Flickr by John from Tulsa. This isn't taken on Grand Lake, where I live, but it is close.
The Pelicans are beautiful and I love to watch them spiraling in the sky. When I watch them I always get a really good feeling, like God's in HIs heaven and things are great at that moment.
We will have a Pelican festiful the first week of October (3,4 & 5th) and the Brush and Palette Club is renting a booth to display art so that we can show off what we do. We will also have the winners of the "Pelican" Art Contest at the booth wil us, so everyone can see the talent that Grand Lake has to offer. Thanks to John of Tulsa for this beautiful photo.

This is a community project. There are about 6 or 7 people working on this. It is not finished yet. I will post the finished project. There is a wonderful feeling when you stand in front of this and it is an honor being able to participate in this project. I feel humbled when I am working with other people who love Jesus and we are doing art that we pray will make Him happy. The beginning thoughts for "Grace" came from a song line "all the vain things that comfort me", so we explored all the vain things that we turn to, instead of God, when we need comfort or guidence. We also did some word research when starting this project. We learned a great deal about "Grace" and we are still, daily, receiving "Grace".

I love this piece. Can't you just hear the church choir singing "Jesus Is Calling" and the girl hearing the call? It speaks volumes about faith and life. The frame is rough wood that has a glaze of paint on it and the piece is about 12X12. It is a collage on acrylic and metallic paint background. A 12X12 paper collage with lots of different textures. There is some nice hand made paper in this piece. The Scripture, which comes from a 1898 Bible, has original handwriting on it and adds to the theme. I love the sunset where the words are placed because it looks like God's hand could appear at any time. The bird is looking at three real sea shells. It is a wrapped collage and is not framed. The colors in this just pop!

On The Lake

This is a 12X12 piece is canvas wrapped and not framed The collage wraps all around the canvas. There are many layers to this piece and some different textures. I used both collage and acrylic paint to complete this mixed media art work. The sails are made from Vellum paper that allows you to see through which adds to the depth. We have Pelicans,that come to the lake where I live, in September and October, so I had to add a Pelican to the fun. The background is made up of local maps and songs, who's lyrics are about the lake or sailing. This piece is just fun!

This is a collage with acrylic paint and some metallic paints. It also has a microscope slide piece hanging freely from the canvas. I think this is about 16X20 and is in a gold frame with a linen inset. There is a lot of depth that does not show up well in the photo. I created lots of layers in this piece. This was created for a themed show called "Winter Colors" and this just speaks to me of the season "winter".

The Price of this piece is $350.00 and it is framed.

Fairy Tales Can Come True...

This piece started when I found the frame. I believe it was intended for small photos, school pictures maybe, but I had other plans for it. When I saw this frame it spoke "Domino Art" to me. So it sat around for a long time in it's old brown state and then one day I started to try to spray paint it black...well about 10 coats later I finally had a nice paint job done. Then I had to figure out what I was going to do on nine dominoes that would go together in the frame. I thought a song would be nice to co-ordinate the doms...so I hunted and hunted and hunted some more for the right song. I knew that I would know it as soon as I found it, and sure enough, I did. Fairy Tales can come true, and it can happen to you, if your young at heart.....the song is an oldie but it brings back such great memories and I absolutely love this piece.

My oldest daughter is PREGNANT! We didn't think this would happen so it is a total surprise... More for my daughter than for me, but still a surprise. BTW...one of the best surprises I have had in a long time. The baby is a girl and her name will be Shae. I'm so excited for my daughter. I hope she has a wonderful life with her child. I wish Tanya, Scott and baby Shea all the best.

This coming week the children's art classes start. I have been teaching private classes for a couple of years. I usually don't have a lot of students due to their time frame. I can only teach so many after public school lets out in the afternoon. But this year I have picked up some home schooled kids and that has added to the numbers. So, I took on a partner, Vicki McCaul. She is also my Vice President for the Brush and Palette Club. We work well together and understand how each other thinks. It will be nice to have help and maybe she can take over for me after a while because to be truthful, I am getting old and grouchy! LOL. (this is my sixth grandchild and I have great grandchild.)

Well, to be really honest, I want to do my art work and that's all. Right now I am working on a 3D piece that involves a Barbie doll. The theme of the show is "As Cold as a Long Tall Drink" and so I have put Barbie on the beach and given her a beach umbrella. It is goofy but I loved doing it. As soon as I can get a pic of the piece I will post it. Anyway, I have become very selfish about my time because I feel the clock ticking and I have so many things I want to try or collages that are already in my mind and I need to create the art while I have time. I wish those close to me understood this fact. It is like the driving force in my life. Time away from art is time wasted... unless, it is time spent with my God, husband or closest friends, that is precious time.

Oklahoma Centennial

Our State, Oklahoma, had a birthday this year. So, we had an art show in honor of that. This is the collage that I created for this show. The Title is "Oklahoma Centennial" I used a lot of my creative juices to get this one on canvas but I enjoyed the process and I love the completed piece. It is not often that I see the whole picture before I start and arrive at the finish line with something that really looks like my original thought, but this one did just that. It was a great journey.

I have been, and am, very proud to be the President of my art club, The Brush & Palette, this year and it looks like I will be in this office for another year according to the nominations that have been made. Being President takes a lot of my time but I think it's worth the time because I am able to work on projects that I think are important for the future of the club, local art community and young artists that are up and coming. I hope if you visit my town, Grove, Oklahoma, that you will visit the club and art gallery. It is located in a very old building that needs renovation badly but we sure can create some wonderful art there. The area is loaded with talent and we love showing it off at the Brush & Palette Club and Gallery.

I went back and reworked this piece. I added some stuff and brightened other stuff and I like it a lot better now. This piece is pretty graphic and lays the intent right out there on the table. I am usually a bit more subtle in my story line. lol I'm not exactly sure on the size, but I think it might be 16X20...but don't hold me to that....'cause it could be smaller or bigger....never know with me. This is all cut and paste. I did a Vaseline and Gesso technique on the background. Then I collaged everything on and lastly I added some inks and paints for some extra color. The stuff shooting out the back of the car is strips of paper used for packing a present and silver glitter fingernail polish. Looks like confetti shooting out the back. LOL

This is a wooden box that I bought at a flea market years ago. It was collaged with old horse race bets. All the hardware was either broken or gone. The wood had a couple of bad places also. It was in such bad condition that I put off doing anything with it for a very long time. But I loved the shape of the box, so I let it hang around. Finally, one day, the mood struck, and the rest is history. It had been restored for a few months, when one day a lady walked into the gallery who collected dominoes. I sold her some doms that I had turned into pieces of artwork...then she saw the box. It's hers now and I am 85.00 dollars richer. It's all in the timing.....SOLD!

We had a friend die from cancer this year. He was a very close friend of Rob, my husband. I made this collage for Mark shortly before he passed away. It was Rob's idea that I do a collage for him...but I think it helped me. Not sure it did a thing for Mark. Maybe his Mom....
There is an empty space here on earth where Mark use to be. I'm glad I knew him.

"Chair-ity Auction"

Wowie Zowie!!!!
Last night, May 13, 2006, we raised over $3000,00 for the Brush & Palette Club and Gallery! It was unbelievable. Artists paid $5.00 each for the clubs old 70's orange chairs and turned them into works of art and then donated them back to the gallery and last night we all dressed up, had a "PARTY" and auctioned off all the chairs to wonderful people who have a desire for art to stay alive in the town they live in. Isn't that wonderful?

I stood in awe as I watched the auction and heard the bids. I'm proud to say that all 3 of the chairs I worked on sold for almost $100.00 each. But one chair sold for $350.00 and others sold for $200.00! Remember we are talking about folding chairs!!!
And all the proceeds went to support the Brush & Palette Gallery. Which, by the way, is where my art work hangs and I also have a studio space there, so this was very important to me, but also to many other artists who are members.
It was a fabulous night and I haven't had so much fun in years. It renewed my hope in the fact that someone wants art to stay and flourish in "Groovy Grove" USA
And I thank everyone who worked, supported, and most importantly, bought a chair (;-)))

This is the other chair I did for our Chair-ity Auction at the Brush & Palette Gallery that is taking place this coming Saturday, May 13th. All the chairs have been judged and this one took 3rd place. I am happy but that is not why I did the chairs. I hope we raise a lot of money so that the gallery and art club can continue to exist. I have been a member for at least 5 years but the club and gallery have been in existence for 40 years plus. I'll let you know how it goes.

This is an art doll I made of my DH. This picture was taken when he was 15 years old and just starting his high school football career as a star blocker. He hates this picture but I just think he was a cutie! I sure wish I had known him then. (BTW...he's one of the greatest guys on earth.)
He has come to grips with the doll and even kinda likes it. I plan on making a collage using it and other stuff from his old year books...that will be fun!
I'll post it when I get it done. It'll be a while 'cause I have several pieces in the works that have to be finished first. I'm working as fast as I can.....lol

Valentine Bag Book

This is a Valentine Day Book that I made for my DH. It is made from paper bags. I know that doesn't sound very elegant...but it sure did make a cute Valentine. Never before in my art career have I used teddy bears for anything....I'm just not a teddy bear type artist. But I found these old Valentines in a bunch of stuff someone gave me and they cried out to be used as they were intended, but in a new way. They're soooooo cute! And my DH thought so too. (;-))

I'm working on a second chair and I'll post it when it's completed. Don't mind my ugly sheet underneath...something has to keep some of the paint off the wood floors...of course it doesn't really work...I'm thinking of just splatter painting the whole room and have done with it.....what do ya think?
